About Predict the 53
Predict the 53 is a free, fan-made tool for building an NFL team’s final roster. Training-camp cuts force dozens of connected decisions: positional depth, special teams, reserve lists, a practice squad, and an emergency quarterback. This project turns those decisions into a board fans can edit, save, and share.
Who runs this
An independent, one-person project
One person builds, writes, and maintains Predict the 53. It started as a better way to turn cut-day opinions into a complete roster instead of a loose list of names. There is no club, league, media company, or betting operator behind it.
The operator is reachable through the contact and corrections page, at nflschedulesimulator@gmail.com, or at @predictthe53. A legal name is not published on the site; the working contact channels are public and monitored so data issues and corrections remain accountable.

- Build the active 53 from scratch or start with a 30-player projected core.
- Compare player role evidence, availability, experience, and draft information.

- Check roster balance, save choices locally, and export a shareable team-colored image.
Where the data and guidance come from
Team, player, roster, and depth-chart fields come from ESPN’s public NFL feeds. The projected core also uses categorical role signals from Mike Clay’s 2026 NFL Projection Guide. Predict the 53 then adds its own normalization, scoring, availability handling, roster-shape logic, and interactive decision tools. ESPN supplies data; it does not write the explanations or decide which players appear in your final roster.

Editorial process
How pages and corrections are handled
Rules and methodology claims are checked against linked NFL, NFL Football Operations, and ESPN sources and against what the code actually does. The site avoids presenting a model output as an official roster decision. When a source is unofficial or incomplete, the limitation is stated plainly.
Writing tools may help organize an early draft. Published copy is then reviewed against its sources and the working product. Bulk pages are not created merely to target search terms, and the site does not turn an external feed into articles with lightly changed wording.
A reported error is checked at the source. Confirmed factual and data-handling errors are fixed directly, and repeatable software mistakes become test cases where practical. To report one, use the correction form and include a primary source if possible.
Privacy and funding
Roster picks stay in your browser; there are no logins or user accounts. The site uses consent-aware aggregate analytics and may show Google advertising on content pages to help pay for hosting. Advertising is kept off the roster builder, contact form, navigation index, and legal pages. Details and opt-out choices are in the privacy policy.
Independence
Predict the 53 is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or licensed by the NFL, ESPN, or any NFL team. Team names, league names, logos, player images, and related marks belong to their respective owners.
